Mount Merapi is a gigantic volcano, sometimes dangerous with its eruption and spitted from its crater, but at the same time gives tremendous fertility to the land. That’s the reason why the reason why the farmers living in its slope have good harvests.
Climbing Merapi could be done trough
several passage, usually from the village
of Kinerejo, east to
Kaliurang. The other is the village
of Selo, located north of
the mountain. Climber should start around midnight to reach the top early in
the morning when it is free from clouds and mist.
Another beautiful place is Kaliurang.
It is located on the south slope of Merapi mountain. It is about 10 kms south
of the mountain. It is a cool green hill resort. It is a pleasant place to
relax for forest walk. There are waterfalls, swimming pool and garden.
